Friends,

START may be a good start, but there is much more to do.

Recently, President Obama signed a treaty with Russia that promised both nations would reduce their nuclear stockpiles by one-third. The treaty, once ratified by the Senate, will extend the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START), which expired in December.

The White House says the treaty is a landmark in progress to the reduction of nuclear weapons, and leaders of both nations pledged further work toward additional reductions.

Nonetheless, a closer look reveals that this new treaty leaves superpowers with many nuclear options. The Fellowship of Reconciliation USA encourages you to act now to eliminate the nuclear threat to your city, your country and your world.

For FOR supporters in the New York City area

Help make the conference and rally to end nuclear weapons a success!

Open your home or house of worship to out-of-town attendees. Email Preston Davis at preston@forpeace.net to coordinate.

Write your senators to support ratification of the new START treaty. Although this agreement is only a stepping-stone, it's an important step toward a world free of the threat of nuclear war. Read more about why this ratification is so important.

March on May 2 to the United Nations in New York City. The Fellowship of Reconciliation will be participating in an interfaith convocation at noon at the Church Center for the United Nations, East 44th Street at First Avenue. We will then gather at 1:15 PM and march from the Church Center to the rally at Seventh Avenue and 41st Street.
