Friends,
From its beginning, the Fellowship of Reconciliation has stood in opposition to the death penalty.
Today, we have the chance to prevent an execution from taking place -- but only if you act right away.
A Georgia prisoner, Troy Davis, is scheduled to be poisoned to death next week, even though doubts about his case remain widespread and completely unresolved.
People of Faith Against the Death Penalty and Amnesty International are collecting signatures in support of Troy Davis' clemency.
The Fellowship of Reconciliation has endorsed the letter, and we encourage you to take action on this important and urgent issue.
Troy Davis was convicted of murdering a Georgia police officer in 1991; nearly two decades later, the case against him has fallen apart. In 2009, the Supreme Court ordered a new evidentiary hearing in his case. Last month, the Supreme Court declined to hear Troy Davis' appeal of his conviction in the wake of the evidentiary hearing. The only chance for his clemency now rests with the state of Georgia. Learn more about Troy Davis.
We know the Pardon Board's members are people of faith. They will care what religious leaders have to say.
Thank you for joining us in prayer and action.
