Friends,

SeabeckIf you haven't yet registered for next month's 53rd annual Seabeck FOR conference in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, you're in luck! It's not too late to join us. (And scholarship assistance is still available: see below for details.)

Register today by contacting directly the Conference Registrar, Louise Lansberry, via phone at 206-364-2037 or e-mail at seabeck@wwfor.org.

For more than a half-century, FOR members and friends of all ages have gathered at the Seabeck Conference Center, west of Seattle, Washington, for fellowship, fun, education, and organizing for peace and justice. We would love to see you there from July 1-4!

This year's conference, "Toward a Fair, Sustainable Global Economy," will feature keynoter Sarah van Gelder, co-founder and executive editor of Yes! A Journal of Positive Futures magazine. Yes! is one of the most inspiring, and most aesthetically pleasing, publications in the market.

Sarah van GelderVan Gelder will help lead a conversation about what a fair, sustainable global economy would look like, and how we can work together to get there. The Seabeck organizers write, "We must overcome the obstacles of corporate greed, militarism, racism, overconsumption, and fear. Our desire to preserve our beautiful earth for the coming generations and our sense of justice for all people will be focal points in our discussion."

20 members of FOR's National Council, from across North America, are scheduled to attend this year's conference, along with four members of FOR's national staff: Mark Johnson, executive director (Stony Point, NY); Susana Pimiento Chamorro, director of action (Austin, TX); John Lindsay-Poland, director of research & advocacy (Oakland, CA); and Ethan Vesely-Flad, director of communications (Chichester, NY).

Seabeck Conference Center viewSusana and Ethan will join FOR National Council chairperson Andrea Briggs (Riverside, CA) and IFOR International Committee member Lucas Johnson (Atlanta, GA) in a panel conversation on "Tools toward a fair, sustainable global economy." Other National Council members will travel from throughout North America to participate in this year's gathering.

Seeking scholarship assistance? There is still some money available for low-income discount and scholarships. Contact Louise or the WWFOR office at wwfor@wwfor.org or 206-789-5565.

As the WWFOR office says, "Bottom line: We want you there. And you'll be glad that you decided to come." Please register to join us for an enriching and fun weekend of building personal relationships and the movement for peace and justice!

Hoping to see you in July -- Ethan, Mark, Susana, John, and the entire team at FOR.
