Selections from our holiday collection

"Peaceful Coexistence" depicts a dark-hued woodcut of six different types of worship building. Inside are these lines translated from Hafiz: "I am in love with every church/and mosque/and temple/and any kind of shrine/because I know is is there/that people say the different names/of the one God."

A golden-hued bas relief of the holy family in the Bethlehem church on the site where Jesus is said to have been born. This card is from a photo by former FOR executive director Doug Hostetter. The inscription inside, from a ninth century carol, proclaims peace.

An exuberant four-panel foldout with a silhouette of friendly animals, most of them holding sprigs of green. Framed along the card's top and bottom borders is a blessing of the season from Charles Dickens. This card is by popular FOR artist Jody Richards.

A Russian style icon transformed by rich red colors of the Mexican desert, showing Mary and the baby Jesus. The inside is blank, and on the back is a commentary about the artist and the artwork.

A primitive watercolor mainly in blues, of the holy family and two little angels above them. Inside are peace-wishing lines from the carol "It Came Upon the Midnight Clear."

Elegant portrait of plums and pear (five cards of each fruit). Blank inside, with the back providing a couple of lines from a poem, with an explanation, about wassailing the trees.

A golden menorah on a dark background. Rays of light emanate from the menorah, intersecting to form stars of David and beyond that to embrace the earth. Inside are lines from the song "Not by Might -- Not by Power."

The radiant sun and a happy cloud look down upon green hills and blue waters. Along the bottom of this postcard are the words, "Shalom -- just to be is a blessing ... just to live is holy," by Abraham Heschel, late leader of the Jewish Peace Fellowship.

Five children, silhouetted in white with falling snow and walking with lanterns. Along the bottom of this postcard are words by Emily Greene Balch: "We have a long, long way to go. So let us hasten along the road of human tenderness and generosity. Groping, we may find one another's hands in the dark."
