Friends,

This Saturday, Shauen Pearce, FOR Program Director for Social, Economic and Racial Justice, will be co-hosting a free dinner and silent auction, benefiting the U.S. Joint Struggle Delegation to the World Social Forum Free Palestine in Brazil. The Forum is explicitly calling for a broad-based cross-movement delegation:

Joint Struggle Liberation: The Fundraiser"This effort seeks to build joint struggle for the liberation of people and land. Specifically, the delegation hopes to strengthen resistance to mass incarceration, surveillance and targeting of communities, repression of popular movements and activists, militarized borders, land and resource appropriation and privatization, and promote indigenous self-determination, the rights of refugees, the sustainability of the land and natural resources and the creation of a people's economy."

Shauen, along with Rose Brewer and Flo Razowsky, cordially invite you to join them for an evening of delicious food, community conversation, and a silent art auction featuring the work of Andrea Jenkins and Flo Razowsky. They'll be talking about the Forum, and how we can lay the groundwork for building locally after we return.

Saturday, Sept. 29, 7:00 to 9:30 PM
Cafe SouthSide, 3405 Chicago Ave S, Minneapolis

The event is free to attend, with a silent auction benefiting the delegation. If you can't attend but would like to make a donation, you can do so online.

The year has been filled with successes amidst grave adversity for the world's people. Our neighbors across the state have manifested giant leaps forward. Between the marches for Trayvon Martin, defeating the "Shoot First" bill, supporting union leaders and Occupy camps, and coming out by the thousands to stand with those under attack by repressive forces in our state, it is safe to say that we have been motivated from all areas -- from rural, suburban, and urban regions -- to move collectively toward a just economic system as well as standing up against racism and bigotry in all forms.

In the spirit of furthering truly peaceful existence and continuing our collective struggle for liberation, justice, and peace, FOR invites you to join in the work of the U.S. Joint Struggle Delegation to the World Social Forum: Free Palestine. We are working across faith, class, race, age and more to build a movement for the freedoms of Palestinians and historically displaced, repressed, and oppressed communities. Please share this invitation with your networks. Your response is appreciated, your attendance is requested, and your support is essential in all forms.
