Fellowship of Reconciliation

Dear Friends,

Since the tragic massacre in Newtown, Connecticut, gun violence has already taken the lives of more than 1,500 persons in our nation. This past weekend, more than 50 people will have died due to a gun. (Click here to learn the name, age, and place of death of every identified person killed by a gun since Newtown.)

Today, the Fellowship of Reconciliation is joining other faith-based communities today in a national religious call-in day to prevent gun violence.

Please call your Senators and Representative today and ask them to prevent gun violence. The call-in number is 1-888-897-0174. Be sure to let the organizers know you took action by going to http://faithscalling.org.

When you call, let your Senators and Representative know your name, city, and faith community. Emphasize the policies that you believe will work, including but not limited to:

  • Banning semi-automatic assault weapons and high capacity magazines.
  • Making gun trafficking a federal crime.
  • Requiring universal background checks for all gun purchases and acting to close the gun show loophole.
  • Improving mental health services.

Faith United to End Gun Violence

Congress needs to hear the moral voices on gun violence prevention. To directly encourage friends to join in, please forward this email and share the Facebook event.

Thanks for taking action to prevent gun violence.

Peace,

Ethan, Shauen, Mark, and the rest of FOR's team
