Religious sexual fundamentalisms are the increasing source of extreme violences against women, girls, and LGBT people across the globe. Sexual fundamentalists seek to control reproductive rights, contraception, comprehensive sexual education and the LGBT right to exist, as they enforce marriage and oppressive traditions. This UN CSW workshop will look at the way religious violences are being institutionalized at the UN, and how the movement is hijacking the international agenda of women’s rights and sexual rights, putting 50 years of women’s organizing at the UN at risk.
