Fellowship of Reconciliation

Dear Friends,

A reminder that tomorrow morning and this Saturday a pair of dynamic panels on gender-based violence will be hosted by the Rev. Patti Ackerman, FOR Freeman Fellow and FOR's U.N. Representative, as part of this year's United Nations Commission on the Status of Women program. The time for this Saturday's workshop has been changed to 2:30 p.m.

We hope you join us for one or both of these events!

Religious sexual fundamentalisms are the increasing source of extreme violences against women, girls, and LGBT people across the globe. Sexual fundamentalists seek to control reproductive rights, contraception, comprehensive sexual education and the LGBT right to exist, as they enforce marriage and oppressive traditions. This UNCSW workshop will look at the way religious violences are being institutionalized at the United Nations, and how the movement is hijacking the international agenda of women’s rights and sexual rights, putting 50 years of women’s organizing at the U.N. at risk. Read more about this event.

Free and open to the public. Sponsored by FOR, IGLHRC, and CONNECT NYC.
