Fellowship of Reconciliation

Friends,

Today we remember those lost on Sept. 11, 2001. Next month, many of us will think back to the beginning of the U.S. war on Afghanistan, and earlier this year we marked the tenth anniversary of the U.S. war on Iraq. Even now, drums beat for war on Syria, as we look back to the attacks on U.S. personnel in Benghazi one year ago and the bombing of Libya that preceded it.

Today and every day we have too many monuments to dedicate, too many lives to mourn. Today we need not more memorials, but more peace.

International Day of Prayer for Peace on Sept. 21

The Fellowship of Reconciliation is joining together with friends and allies -- including On Earth Peace, Pax Christi, Center on Conscience and War and more -- to participate in the International Day of Prayer for Peace. The day is concurrent with UN Peace Day, established in 1981 and celebrated worldwide. In 2012, 170 communities of faith in 15 countries participated in the Day of Prayer for Peace.

We invite your local faith community, FOR chapter, or circle of friends to join us in the 2013 International Day of Prayer for Peace:

In peace, and for peace,

Rev. Kristin Stoneking
Executive Director
