Fellowship of Reconciliation

National Public Radio's Krista Tippett will moderate a provocative and thoughtful intergenerational conversation next Thursday, Dec. 12 at 7:00 p.m. with Freedom Struggle veteran Gwendolyn Zoharah Simmons and the Fellowship of Reconciliation's Lucas Johnson. You are invited to attend this live, in-studio interview at NPR's Studio 1 in Washington, D.C.

Tickets are free but in limited supply: register now for this free event!

As a year of civil rights milestones draws to a close, the Civil Conversation Project will explore the movement's relevance for our time -- including the competing philosophies it carried about how social change happens.

Lucas JohnsonRev. Lucas Johnson is FOR's Southeast & Mid-Atlantic regional coordinator/organizer, based in Atlanta GA. As a young leader committed to the spiritual, moral, and practical applications of nonviolent resistance, Lucas works with U.S. communities of color and with a global network of young people from Congo to Palestine to apply this mode of social change to hard, contemporary realities.

Gwendolyn Zoharah SimmonsGwendolyn Zoharah Simmons was an original Black Power feminist active with the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and a leader of the Mississippi Freedom Summer of 1964. Now an assistant professor of religion at the University of Florida in Gainesville FL and a praciticing Sufi Muslim, her perspective on social change and religious activism has evolved over the past half-century.

Krista TippettKrista Tippett is host of NPR's award-winning program On Being, which addresses "the big questions at the center of human life, from the boldest new science of the human brain to the most ancient traditions of the human spirit." Krista will lead a cross-generational conversation, mining their collective wisdom for our time.

Register today for this free NPR studio program before tickets run out.

I will travel from California to attend this very special event with my colleague Lucas and his esteemed co-presenters. We warmly invite you to join us. Please reply to this email to let FOR know you plan to attend the program (the online registration site is managed by NPR).
