Fellowship of Reconciliation

Friends,

We are delighted to announce the 2015 Fellowship of Reconciliation USA Peace Award Winners!  Thank you to all who nominated many very worthy candidates this year.

Our Local Hero Award goes to the Peace and Justice Action League of Spokane, Washington (PJALS). The Local Hero Award recognizes FOR-related groups and individuals in the United States who work tirelessly for justice and reconciliation in their local communities and regions, engaging an innovative and entrepreneurial spirit. PJALS’ mission:  to engage individuals and local communities in building a just and nonviolent world. One glance at their website will inspire you!

The FOR Martin Luther King, Jr. Award goes to Ruby Sales and Cheryl Blankenship and the SpiritHouse Project in Atlanta, Georgia. This award recognizes those working in the United States in the tradition of Martin Luther King, Jr., making significant contributions to the furtherance of Dr. King’s non-violent approach to transforming racial, economic, and social injustices. SpiritHouse is an organization that uses the arts, research, education, action, and spirituality to bring diverse peoples together to work for racial, economic, and social justice, as well as for spiritual maturity. We will be sharing the stories of our winners at length, but, meanwhile, please get to know more about them at the SpiritHouse Project website and facebook page.

The FOR Pfeffer International Peace Award goes to Combatants for Peace, in Israel and Palestine.  This award honors those around the world working for peace and justice. Combatants for Peace are a group of former Palestinian combatants and former Israeli soldiers who have joined together in a nonviolent struggle, calling on both nations to join them to achieve peace and reconciliation between Palestinians and Israelis. Their innovative story can be found on their website, facebook page, and flickr gallery.

Congratulations to all our winners!  We look forward to awarding them and hearing their inspiring stories at the FOR Centennial Dinner on Nov. 7 in NYC. Come and meet these remarkable activists for peace and justice!  Get your tickets for the Centennial Gala Dinner and learn more about all of FOR's Centennial events.

In peace and celebration,
