Fellowship of Reconciliation

Friends,

We hear a lot these days about being "allies" and "standing in solidarity" with people on the front lines of justice movements. What does that mean? How do we live out those commitments?

You are invited to join -- in person in California, or via an Internet livestream feed -- an upcoming conversation to engage these important questions:

The Future of Solidarity: How White People Can Support the Movement for Black Lives
Tuesday, March 8, 7:00 PM Pacific, 10:00 PM Eastern
Via a live Internet stream, or in person in Oakland, CA

As an FOR member, I know our community of spiritually-rooted activists can struggle with how to best exemplify solidarity -- especially for those of us who are white North Americans.

Sometimes this tension emerges in our international partnerships -- with activists in Latin America, the Middle East, and elsewhere -- but more often, we are both encouraged and challenged to express our anti-racist commitments right in our home communities.

With the emergence of the Movement for Black Lives, now is the right time to expand our knowledge of faithful and powerful solidarity.

Please join me on Tuesday, March 8 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM Pacific time for this timely conversation. You can attend the live event in downtown Oakland, CA, or join us online through an Internet livestream.

Sponsored by the Catalyst Project, SURJ (Showing Up for Racial Justice), White Noise Collective, BASAT (Bay Area Solidarity Action Team), and First Congregational Church of Oakland.

The discussion will feature three members of Bay Area Black Lives Matter:
