No War 2016 Conference: Real security, without terrorism

Friends,

World Beyond War, a global nonviolent movement to end war and establish a just and sustainable peace, invites you to the No War 2016 conference and nonviolent action in Washington, D.C. this September.

The Fellowship of Reconciliation is honored to be a co-sponsor, and we'd love to see you there! Take a look at the message from World Beyond War below for more information.

On Sept. 23-25, just after the International Day of Peace, the No War 2016 conference will take place at the American University's School of International Service. Featuring speakers of national and world renown and a full agenda of workshops, the conference will build on ideas from the publication A Global Security System: An Alternative to War.

Immediately following the conference, on Monday morning, September 26, World Beyond War along with the National Campaign for Nonviolent Resistance (NCNR) and Campaign Nonviolence (CNV) invite you to help plan and participate in a major nonviolent action against war in Washington, D.C.

NCNR will offer proposals for actions calling those who run the war machine to put an end to war. Those proposals will be discussed at a planning/training meeting on Sunday, September 25th, and final details will be developed at that time.

Have ideas for this action? Send the National Campaign your thoughts.

Join us in Washington D.C. this September

Register to attend No War 2016.

When you register, you can indicate whether you'd like to attend only the weekend workshops or whether you'd also like to be a part of the Monday morning nonviolent action. If you would like to take part in the action only, and not the conference, please contact Malachy Kilbride at NCNR.

Plan an event locally

We know not everyone can make it to Washington, D.C. -- and if you can't, we encourage you to consider planning your own event! World Beyond War has plenty of resources available, and you can contact us for more help. During the week of the International Day of Peace, we hope you'll join with Campaign Nonviolence and engage in strategic nonviolent actions.

You can hold a vigil, march, rally, demonstration or other nonviolent action in your community to call for the abolition of war. Or host a livestream party to watch and discuss the World Beyond War conference!

Please email Campaign Nonviolence when you plan a local event so we can let others in your area know about it.

Remember: "What matters most is not who is sitting in the White House, but who is sitting in -- and who is marching outside the White House, pushing for change." --Howard Zinn

We hope to see you there!

With gratitude for all you do for peace,
